We really like this small island and we want to share it with the people we love. Our first big trip as a couple took us here, and we’ve been returning ever since. It’s a town that just feels right - there are no cars, the fish is fresh, the drinks start at noon, and it hasn’t been overrun yet. We wanted you to be able share in our love of this town while we still can. Below - a couple core features of Holbox to get you acquainted …

SELFIES ARE OKAY

We try to stay off our phones. But what can you do if you think you look damn good.

Hotel Villas Flamingos Holbox

The rehearsal evening and wedding will be at Flamingos. We will be staying here along with our families, we would really love for all of our guests to stay here as well. The hotel is situated further along the beach - away from other hotels - which is why we chose it. It has the only sea front pool on the island, hammocks in the ocean as well as one of the best restaurants on the island. All the rooms are stand-alone with a balcony and hammocks. It really is its own little paradise village!

If everyone books there - we will have the hotel to ourselves from Thursday June 27th until Sunday June 30th. The room rates range from $168-$378 per night. A minimum of 2 nights is required and if you’re interested in booking longer - these discounted rates will stand for five days prior and after the wedding.

To book your room and ask for a price list, email reservas@villasflamingos.com referencing #luciemarkowedding. You cannot book on the website as they have blocked online bookings for us over these dates and we suggest to book soon before the rooms go, there are 40!

If you would prefer to stay at another hotel or we become fully booked please ask Lucie or Marko and we will send you the next best suggestions.

Isla Holbox is located 59 Km North West of the Cancun Airport across a lagoon that separates it from the mainland.

The first step in your journey is to book a flight into Cancun Airport. Due to the travel time to the island from Cancun (approx. 2 hrs by car + 15 mims by ferry) we suggest booking earlier flights in, and later flights for your return.

The second step in your journey is to decide whether to take a car service or plane charter from Cancun Airport to the island.

If you choose to travel by car service it’s about a 2 hour car journey to Chiquila - a tip of 10% for the journey is sufficient, paid in cash (we recommend having about $100 in pesos on you for such transactions - there’s an ATM that dispenses dollars in Cancun airport). The driver will help you get a ferry ticket - which takes a 15 minute ferry to the Island of Holbox. From there you will take a golf-cart taxi to take you to the hotel (Holbox has no cars on the island).

If you choose to go by plane charter, the flight is 30 minutes and takes you directly onto the island, skipping the need for the ferry, but you’ll still need a taxi to the hotels.

CAR SERVICE

The main way to get from Cancun airport to Chiquila (where the ferry leaves for Holbox) is by shuttle. You can take a scheduled shuttle or order a private shuttle - and then buy a ferry ticket at Chiquila. The driver will likely help you with the ferry ticket.

FLY.jpg

PLANE CHARTER

Flying to Holbox directly from Cancun is definitely easiest. We’ve never done it though. The round trip for two people is $940 but the price lowers the more people with whom you book your flight - hence the benefit of traveling in a group.

BOAT.jpg

HOLBOX FERRY

The ferries to Holbox depart every 30 minutes and alternate between two companies (Holbox Express and 9 Hermanos). The Car Service driver will help you get a ticket. Also - most hotels you book with will include the Ferry Ticket into your Car Service price, as well as the golf-cart taxi from the Holbox ferry terminal to your hotel.
